The process of finding the right piece can be fraught with frustration and can become a major time waster for people who are already leading busy lives.
Many people get overwhelmed with the number of choices that come with a custom piece. Here are just a few we consider together:
At Kristi Callahan Art, our goal is to create artwork that moves, inspires and conveys YOUR personality. To do this, we use fluid art techniques with a broad range of colors.
Due to the nature of fluid art, all artwork is one of a kind. We are currently not making prints, so every piece is truly unique.
We would like nothing more than to collaborate with you to complete YOUR vision for your space.
Kristi Callahan has been creating since age 12 when her parents gave her a rubber stamp and ink for Christmas. Over 45 years later she is still creating. Some areas of interest in her creative journey include designing for multiple companies in the creative community along with owning her own retail store. One thing her customers/clients have always stated, Kristi’s product knowledge is on point. Knowing the correct product for the project is still of utmost importance.
Kristi now uses her knowledge and use of colors to take her art off the page and onto the canvas. The uniqueness of her fluid art is key to her success. The common comment from people is getting the colors and vision just right. Kristi can create unique, one-of-a-kind art for her customers using all of her many years of experience.
Customers can be confident that her art will match the décor in your home or office. She is always able to add a hint of sparkle or shimmer if needed.
Kristi lives in Decatur, TX with her husband Scot.

What questions do you have for me? Here are just a few questions people like you ask me over and over again.
Fluid Art is the name of a style of art where paint colors are applied to a canvas not using brushwork, but more direct distribution to the canvas. Most people are most familiar with the technique of paint pouring. You can use a variety of paint or resin mixed with pigments. Some of the more advanced techniques require chemical reactions of products used.
Fluid Art is the general term used for most techniques used. One of the techniques is paint pouring, where paint colors are layered in a cup then transferred to the canvas. There are many methods to disperse the paint.
Fluid art was discovered by the Mexican muralist David Alfredo Siqueiros. We say "discovered" because fluid art was Siqueiros’ happy accident on canvas.
You are just one step away from beginning the process of creating a piece of fluid art for your home or business. Reach out to Kristi and explore how you can complete a room (or two) with fluid art!
Fluid art was discovered by the Mexican muralist David Alfredo Siqueiros. We say "discovered" because, as opposed to a meticulous and deliberate effort, Fluid Art was Siqueiros’ personal happy accident on canvas.
Thank goodness for his artistic spirit that spilled paint did not become spilled milk. The complex, fluid patterns the paint had created on the canvas mesmerized Sequeiros. Soon enough, he was trying to decode the science behind the easy-to-make marbled masterpiece.
In fluid art, it's important to create different layers with paints when pouring them. Simply splattering paints on canvas does not really lead to fluid painting!
A specific character of fluid art is that despite patterns that cover the whole canvas, colors and the way they play on the canvas stand out. The combination should be aesthetically pleasing. The colour wheel and basic colour theory is how artists choose their hues for pour painting. The way is simple- if you want to derive your colours from the same color palette, choose colors that are immediately next to your chosen hue. For contrast, choose a light colour and a dark one. Popular pairings are black and white, purple and yellow, red and green. You can also experiment with cool palettes and warm palettes.
Viscosity refers to the resistance of a fluid to change shape. What may be easier to remember is simply a fluid's thickness. Viscous paints determine the texture of paintings. Each medium will cause a different level of consistency and thickness of paints — water, oil, silicone, heat, linseed oil, or turpentine.
While paint viscosity may feel like something that is out of your control, fluid artists use viscosity to their advantage. As with art, you may have accidents; but it is up to you to turn it into a happy one. Lay your paints deliberately. Think about why you’re laying the paint at a particular point- and why one layer is on the top of the other.
